Our growing team is looking for a detailed-oriented Construction Estimator. The ideal candidate will possess a solid foundation in construction management and estimating, demonstrating the capacity to analyze project specifications and generate precise cost estimates. This role is vital in ensuring projects are executed within budget constraints while adhering to quality standards.

The Construction Estimator will collaborate closely with project managers, subcontractors, and clients to negotiate contracts and effectively manage costs throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Analyze and interpret blueprints, specifications, and related documents to prepare comprehensive estimates of time, cost, materials, and labor for projects.
  • Prepare and present detailed bid proposals with clear outlines of costs and project timelines.
  • Utilize construction estimating software and maintain organized records of estimates, contracts, and correspondence.
  • Collaborate with project managers to understand scope and requirements and communicate with trade contractors to field questions and solicit cost-saving suggestions.
  • Negotiate pricing and secure favorable terms with subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Conduct quantity surveys and review project scope to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Monitor construction project costs to ensure effective cost control.
  • Perform constructability reviews and analyze subcontractor proposals.
  • Develop cost-saving ideas and track historical costs to inform future project estimates.
  • Prepare subcontracts and purchase orders, and oversee site visits, walk-throughs, and pre-bid meetings.
  • Maintain strong communication, negotiation, mathematical, and analytical skills, along with attention to detail and accuracy in estimation tasks.

Skills or Experience Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of construction management principles and practices.
  • Proven experience in construction estimating or a related field.
  • Proficiency in using construction estimating software and performing quantity take-offs and cost estimates.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications accurately.
  • Familiarity with construction site operations and safety protocols.
  • Excellent analytical skills with keen attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build effective relationships with contractors and suppliers.
  • Experience in qualifying subcontractors’ scopes of work and developing project schedules.
  • A degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
